Swine flu, a few facts.

What is the H1N1 virus (human swine flu)?
The H1N1 virus is a strain of the influenza virus which usually affects pigs, but it has found its way to cross over the species barrier and cause humans to be affected by the illness.

In humans, the swine flu causes similar symptoms to those of the seasonal flu (influenza), namely headaches, chills, muscular pain, loss of appetite, nasal discharge, throat irritation and fatigue. In certain cases, it can cause nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. The most serious cases lead to pneumonia, which can lead to death. As of May 4, 2009, 26 deaths have been confirmed by the World Health Organization (WHO).

What should I do to protect myself against the H1N1 virus (human swine flu)?
The Government of Canada advises to wash hands carefully, to cover mouths when coughing or sneezing, to keep up usual activities, but to stay home in case of flu, and to consult a health professional if serious influenza symptoms arise.

It has not been proven that the H1N1 virus can be caught by ingesting pork meat or derived products: it is then safe to eat those products, while making sure that the cooking temperature is over 160°F/70°C, which corresponds to instructions generally provided for the preparation of pork and other types of meat.

Which product suggested by INO Solutions enables me to be protected against the H1N1 virus (human swine flu)?

In phase with the recommendations of the Government of Canada, the usage of germicidal (INO-Ek9-4, INO-AES110, INO-AES460) with proper methods of sanitization are recommended in potentially hazardous locations.

Waterless and water-based hand sanitizers (INO-DE68941, INO-DE68917, INO-DE68978, INO-DE68241, INO-DE68278, INO-DE68217) kill 99.9% of skin germs. They can be used in toilets, gymnasiums, locker rooms, hospitals and health-care installations as well as in the food industry, at home and at work.

Are there any risks of a H1N1 virus (human swine flu) pandemic?
An important investigation has been undertaken by international authorities to determine the level of ease of the virus propagation. An influenza pandemic is defined by propagation between humans of a new influenza virus in several countries, on many continents, and even on the whole planet. However, an influenza pandemic is not necessarily deadly; it only represents the extent of the propagation.

What actions is the Government of Canada taking?
The main objective of the Government of Canada is to slow down the propagation of the virus within the country, by increasing national surveillance, by broadcasting information to the population and health workers to efficiently fight against this new type of virus, and, if necessary, by using medication from the national reserve to treat declared cases, as well as relatives and friends of infected patients.

I’m planning a trip to Mexico. Should I cancel it?
As of April 27, 2009, the Government of Canada advises travelers to postpone their non-essential visits to Mexico till forbid.
